My exchange year in Ireland

Last year, I had the incredible opportunity to spend an exchange year in Ireland, it was one of the most exciting experiences of my life.

Living in Listowel, a small village in Kerry, for nine months taught me a lot about Irish culture and also about myself.  I lived with a history family, that had three older children.

I learned there how Irish people live and how they spend their free time.

School was quite different from what I am used to. I attended a small all-girls school with a uniform of brown pants, a yellow blouse, and a brown sweater with the school logo.

The school had various sports teams, and I joined a tennis team outside of school. The locals in Kerry had a great sense of humour and a unique dialect.

Highlights of my year included exploring Ireland’s landscapes and having my families come to visit. I saw the Cliffs of Moher, Galway, the Sky Road, the Ring of Kerry, and meeting many new friends.

The vibrant green landscapes were stunning, and the weather was unpredictable, always shifting from sun to rain to wind in a single day.

One of the most exciting things was also when it snowed after winter break. Because of the snow we had a week off school.
